Introduction
SAT-OCEAN is one, which is specialized, in operational oceanography, which provides metocean data for any region of the world based on technologies developed in-house. SAT-OCEAN is based on high quality remote sensing data produced in-house. Using several sensors from different satellites, SATOCEAN produces high resolution Sea Surface Temperature, Sea Surface Height and winds. The remote sensing data is collected at its rawest level and is cleaned, corrected, cross calibrated and merged to obtain cloud free data. The whole process is done in-house to ensure full control of the data quality. In addition, faster internet facilitates provide at sea by using Wire Ocean Technology. In short, Wired Ocean integrates a unique package of technologies that make internet at sea faster, easier to use, and significantly less costly. This article combines a SAT- OCEAN with a Wire Ocean Technology.
Description
SAT-OCEAN is one that is specialized in operational oceanography, which provides metocean data for any region of the world based on technologies developed in-house (hindcast data for design criteria or forecasts for real-time assistance):
Ocean current
Tidal height and currents
Wave
Oil spill drift forecasting
Wind,Weather Forecast,Rain
Squall tracking in West Africa
Sea surface temperature
Sea ice monitoring in the Arctic regions
Applications
SAT-OCEAN works with
several oil companies
oil industry contractors
seismic companies
towing companies
sailing races and
fishing companies
Specific tools have been developed to satisfy the requirements of the marine seismic industry, the drilling industry and the towing industry
SAT-ocean's technology
SAT-OCEAN products are based on high quality remote sensing data produced in-house. Using several sensors from different satellites, SATOCEAN produces high resolution Sea Surface Temperature (SST), Sea Surface Height (SSH) and winds. The remote sensing data is collected at its rawest level and is cleaned, corrected, cross-calibrated and merged to obtain cloudfree data. The whole process is done in-house to ensure full control of the data quality.
In a next step, state of the art 3D dynamical ocean current (HYCOM) and spectral wave (WaveWatch III) models are implemented for the purpose of forecasting 3D ocean current and waves. SAT-OCEAN's original approach lies in the fact that very little freedom is left to the dynamical model. It is merely a receptacle for the data we provide to it. Hence, the model is strongly 'forced' by SAT-OCEAN's SST, SSH, and winds high quality satellite data.
In addition, the water column of the ocean current model is strongly 'forced' by a dynamic climatology produced in-house which provides a realistic evolution of temperature and salinity profiles through time. With this complete system SAT-OCEAN provides accurate 3D ocean current.
To obtain ocean current and wave information with the highest resolution possible, SAT-OCEAN applies a nesting approach: a high resolution model over a small area is nested in a lower resolution model spanning a larger area. SATOCEAN now provides ocean current and waves with a 1/32th of a degree resolution (about 4 km).
Because of the great satellite coverage available, SAT-OCEAN can apply its trademark technology to obtain 3D ocean current (surface and subsurface) and waves anywhere in the world. The technology described here can be applied for hindcasts analysis up to 10 years long as well as real-time assistances with nowcast/forecast.
Conclusions
This article is a comprehensive plan to develop these innovative ocean technologies, SAT OCEAN Technology is coupled to Wire Ocean Technology. These innovative suggestions will provide important research opportunities to scientists and engineers and is a necessary research platform. The application of the technology will undoubtedly result in modifications, improvements and radically new concepts to performing research. In short, Wired Ocean integrates a unique package of technologies that make internet at sea faster, easier to use, and significantly less costly.
