Do you have an air conditioning unit in your home or office? Perhaps you're considering purchasing one as you've noticed the weather during the summer months is getting hotter each year in the UK? Whatever the reason, you need to know that by 2011 all air conditioning systems over 12kW must have an inspection.

Air Conditioning Inspections

An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is required for all air conditioning systems over 250kW, and after January 2011 the output level is 12kW. Why has the government introduced these measures? The reason is to do with energy consumption of air conditioning units; the government has a target to reach (to avoid fines) of reducing carbon emissions in the UK by 2020 and if the level of energy used on items like this can be reduced nationwide then there will be a significant drop in energy usage.

An inspection is required depending on the size of your system, and is not linked to what type of building you have the system in (so it can be home, commercial or public buildings).

Find a Qualified Company

When it comes to have your unit inspected you need to ensure that you have it done by a company with the right qualifications and experience, otherwise you could end up paying a hefty fine. A company who carries out your inspection should have all reports filed with the Department for Communities & Local Government through Stroma Accreditation.

Using the Web

As with many things in the 21st Century, the World Wide Web (WWW) is the ideal place to find what you're looking for at an affordable price, without having to search the high-street. When you're looking for a Commercial EPC it's no different; log on to your computer and search for air conditioning inspections from a qualified company that uses the CIBSE TM44 methodology, and can provide it throughout the London, Surrey, Hampshire etc. area.

As with any business you agree to pay for through the Internet, ensure you do your research on the company and speak to a human being before you hand over the cash.
