Stop Smoking Hypnosis
Stop Smoking Hypnosis

One of the most common requests for the use of hypnosis is to stop smoking. Before discussing smoking cessation, it's helpful to understand what hypnosis is. It is a state of relaxation and focused concentration (trance state) during which a person becomes open to beneficial suggestions about changing unwanted behavior. You are never asleep or unconscious. Hypnosis is a means of talking directly to the subconscious mind to convey the desire to stop smoking.

Next is the understanding about your conscious and subconscious minds. Most people have heard the statement "we only use 10 percent of our brain power", though this is inaccurate and misleading. Our brain power consists of our conscious mind (10 percent) and our subconscious mind (90 percent).

The reason most people fail to reach their goals is that they try to consciously to stop the problem behavior. This approach doesn't work because our conscious mind makes up only 10 percent of our brain power. It's far more effective to address your subconscious, which makes a powerful 90 percent of your brain power.

Through Hypnosis, direct communication with your subconscious mind helps you achieve your goals even easier. Before choosing a program, consider these steps.

You must have a strong desire to quit smoking.

You must want to quit for yourself. You might want to quit because your spouse, family, or employer wants you to stop smoking, but this shouldn't be your first reason. You must be at that final point when you are sick and tired of smoking.

Close your eyes, and ask yourself out loud, "How much do I want to quit smoking on a scale from 1 to 10?" When hearing their own words, most people see the scale very clearly in their mind. They will see the number indicating their level of motivation. What number popped into your head? If your desire and motivation is not at least an "8", you are not ready to stop.

Your hypnotist cannot make you quit. Ultimately, your success depends on your level of motivation and taking responsibility to reach your goal.

You must have a high commitment to quit smoking.

Along with a strong desire, you are ready to do whatever is necessary to quit smoking. This includes keeping your appointments with your hypnotist, completing any reading assignments, or listening to any audio materials your hypnotist may ask you to complete between sessions.

If you think you can or think you can't, you're absolutely right! You must have a positive mental attitude for change. Hypnosis is a great tool to help make the transition easier without any withdrawal or cravings. There is no "try"; there is only "do" or "don't do." Expect to succeed, and you will.
