Investing in Yourself to Create Success

Success for some people can be measured in numbers, by a financial return, others may consider success to be a project delivered on time, on budget, while for others success can be experienced as a feeling of pride. And it could be defined by you uniquely.

Whichever measurement of success you use, it's pretty likely that you would like more of it. You could trust to luck that it drops in your lap, or you can invest to get a return.

Two key ingredients of success are commitment and creativity.

Commitment seems to be the secret ingredient to success. It shouldn't be a secret! As a generalisation, we get blown off course too easily. We allow setbacks to create doubts. Those doubts lead to negative feelings, and the negative feelings impact our energy levels and our behaviour. To counteract this negative spiral, we need to have a lot of commitment.

How committed to your success are you? Anything worth achieving is going to involve effort, sacrifices and investment. On our Essence course, we regularly have people recognise that their levels of commitment are well below what they think they are. They think they are giving 100%, but then recognise that in fact they were only giving 80% or 60% or in some cases less than 40%.

How creative are you in finding solutions? How many times do you use the phrase: "I don't know" and then give up? Inside everyone of us is a store of creative solutions that most of us don't access. We have ideas that limit us, we rush to judgement on the possible effectiveness which stifles creativity, instead of developing ideas and adjusting depending on real results.

On our Outlook course, participants are often shocked at how they can create solutions to seemingly impossible conundrums, by using a simple technique which is then easily transferred into everyday life.

How and where you invest in yourself is up to you. The more you do, the more fulfilment and happiness you will experience.
