1. Price Problem
If you want to promote two different items which are items that already have fix price with "free shipping" by supplier and the other with various worldwide shipping price. The price can just be mark-up for fixed price item from supplier but how about the items with various shipping cost?
The simple idea is to put with highest shipping cost but it makes item price too expensive and it just a bad idea. Personally I was selling 80 items with this way and only sell 2 of them. Sad:(
Focusing to region, US and UK, which the shipping should be fixed and easy to manage should be a great idea. In this way you will not get buyer from another country but at least you can sell with considerable price buyer can afford:)
2. Stock Problem
There was a time when I need Supplier to send item which I find it in "out of stock" status:(
I was selling about 100 items from the suppliers and I'm afraid to add another because it's hard to maintain the stock if it is available or out of stock.
But I found tools called Outstockchecker: http://www.outstockchecker.com that helps very much, you should try it:) now I'm not afraid anymore to sell more than 100 items because I can just simply end listing item that out of stock:)
3. Be the first selling new item
Always Sign-up every information that supplier could tell you about new item and sell it quick! because this would be considered as niche. Remember that when supplier put things on their website or catalog, Google will not indexed the item immediately so it means you are in the in limited list of user who know this product.
4. Combine item
It was hard to sell RC toys, camera, and electronics because of so heavy gravity, to overcome this problem, sometimes I combined item e.g. combining RC Toys with mini wireless camera with provocative description such as "Get your picture from sky and put on your Facebook profile to amaze your friend!!!!", in this way I'm selling product that already in competition with new way penetration:D
