subject: Vacation Activities In Michigan [print this page]

With all of the lakes surrounding Michigan, there are plenty of water-based activities that are sure to keep you occupied. Not only that, but they are all activities that can be enjoyed by children, adults, and even teenagers.

Fishing is a great pastime of many. Just you out on the lake enjoying the sounds of nature, taking in the clean air, and relaxing.

You can go it alone or take the family. Being out on the water is a great opportunity to chat it up and get in some bonding time.

You also get the added bonus of bringing home some trout or bass for dinner. Gathering your own food like that can be a rare thing if you live in the city, so take the opportunity to do in Michigan what you cannot easily do at home.

If fishing is not something that interests you, and you want more thrills and excitement, you can always go boating. You get the water, the speed, and the fun, all in one activity.

The great thing about boating is some people can stay on the boat and others can be in the water doing things like water skiing, wakeboarding, and inner-tubing. These are exciting things to do for the adventurous one, and the kids love the thrill of gliding on top of the waves made by the boat.

Inner-tubing is the easiest activity when you are being pulled by the boat, you simply sit or lay down on the tube and get pulled along by the boat. You can go fast or slow, which makes it easier for the smaller kids to join in on the fun as well.

Water skiing is a bit harder and takes a lot more strength to get up and get going. You have to go pretty fast to get up on the water, so it is an activity that is probably best for older kids and adults.

Wakeboarding is even more difficult for some because your legs are locked into place. Like water skiing, you have to go pretty fast to stay up, but it is exhilarating to glide fast over the water.

With wakeboarding and skiing, you can do more than with the inner-tube. You can do tricks, go off jumps, and mix things up a lot more, creating for more fun.

Swimming is another great activity that can be enjoyed by all. All you need if a bathing suit, no need to rent a boat for a few hours.

This something that kids love: playing on the beach, making sand castles, and swimming in the water. And for the people who just want to relax, they can lay out a towel and just enjoy the warm weather and the fact that their kids are not fighting over the remote control.

Hiking is another great outdoor activity that families can do together. If you want to go it alone, you can do that too and enjoy the great outdoors.

Michigan has several hiking trails to explore. This is a great activity not only for exploring and enjoying nature, but it is also a great way to keep up with your exercise while still enjoying your vacation.

You can visit the many state parks that are located in Michigan and see all of the wildlife that you have yet to see up close. If you want to enjoy the outside, but you are not necessarily a hiker, you can also check out the green golf courses available.

Nothing is more relaxing than being out on the golf course hitting the ball down the fairway. You can do this alone, with some friends, or you can even teach your kids how the play the game you love.

If you happen to visit in the winter time when it is too cold to go out on the water, and the fairways are blanketed with snow, you can always go snowmobiling or skiing. Michigan has it all in terms of outdoor activities.

This family-friendly state is a great place to take everyone and enjoy the great outdoors. The possibilities for fun and adventure are truly endless.
