One of the common types of golden retrievers is the British, or referred as the English Retriever. It is commonly located in countries of Europe and Australia. Golden retrievers can perform exercises like dog agility. They are good entertainers due to their learning skills and hard working nature. Intelligence has made them very famous. They have a greater degree of patience level and do not get irritated instantly. They are very much concerned about their task. Golden retrievers are obedient to their care takers. This breed was the first winner of AKC Obedience Trial Champion. They are highly competitive in different performance events. Golden retrievers respond to different training styles easily. They are famous as mobility assistance dogs, guide dogs and search as well as rescue dogs

This breed is affected by a common disease named, Hip dysplasia. Care should be taken in diet and exercise to maintain a healthy animal. Cancer is the most common disease amounting to death in Golden Retrievers. Other diseases common to this breed are eye inflamations, heart and joint diseases, skin and Lyme diseases and Hemophilia.
