subject: Why Will The Fda Not Admit The Good Things About Electric Cigarettes [print this page] So far, just about the only information anyone can get from the FDA about why they have not yet approved the electric cigarette is the minimal amount of testing they have done on the product which was to many seemingly exaggerated to be worse than what it actually was. Everyone knows that nicotine is not a great substance to be using, but it is in many other products, tobacco for one, which is legal, and smoking cessation products which the e cigarette does not claim to be.
A lot of the controversy surrounding the disapproval of the electric cigarette seems to be the misconception by some nay sayers that it is not a smoking cessation device and the marketers of e cigarettes agree wholeheartedly with that. The e cigarette is marketed as a smoking alternative to tobacco, it is not sold as a product that claims to make anyone stop using nicotine. What it does claim is that you can replace using tobacco with the e cigarette.
You would think that even if there might be a few side affects from using the e cigarette, which has not been totally proven yet either except for what is already known about nicotine, considering all of the the great things about using them, the FDA should be all over the possibility of getting millions of people to stop smoking tobacco whose laundry list of death implications are a mile long. So far, there is not much indication that the e cigarette has much harm factor at all and if it did, do you not think the FDA would be telling us all about it by now? Many researchers who have done some studies of the product believe that it is at least one hundred times safer than smoking tobacco. Why are we not hearing more about those studies?
To a lot of smokers the e cigarette has been a great thing for them because they have been able to get so many of the bad attributes of tobacco out of their life. You just do not hear too much about those things from the FDA or other groups who are against them. Had these organizations rather people go back to smoking tobacco? Do they really want to indicate that tobacco is a better choice for those that have not been able to give up nicotine and the act of smoking? There entire belief is that people should just stop smoking, bot replace it with a different nicotine product. That would be fine if everyone were capable of quitting using nicotine completely, but the truth is that so many can not.
With all of the side affects from things like weight loss drugs, stop smoking pills and so many other products, why are they ragging on the electric cigarette so much when it definitely is a good thing for so many? And why is tobacco still legal anyway? If they really want to ban a killer, they should start with the worst of them all, tobacco.
