subject: Doorstep Surprises Can Make Anyone's Day Special [print this page] A knock at the door or a ring of the bell can herald an unexpected visit, and a wonderful surprise, could it be the postman with a special delivery or a parcel or letter that is too big for the letterbox, the neighbour popping round to borrow something, or that special item that you have ordered online and have been keenly awaiting its arrival?Flowers have been delivered, often unexpectedly, in this way for many years now and with the growth of the internet, many more things are delivered to the doorstep like this, but recently, I found that something else, something quite delicious, can arrive on the doorstep and prove to be most welcome. I'd spotted that you can buy cake online and thought I would put it to the test so ordered a wonderful sponge cake from an interesting and innovative website, it wasn't long before my cake delivery turned up. I'd ordered a wonderful sponge cake with cream oozing out and lashings of sweet jam, but, as it was such a large cake, it would have been greedy not to share it, so I invited some of my neighbours round for afternoon tea and we spent a couple of hours over a pot of tea and generous slices of sponge cake between us. What a lovely way to spend a summer afternoon.My friends were amazed to hear that I was having Cakes Delivered to my doorstep but after they had tasted the cake and taken great delight in helping me eat it, I think they were quite taken by the idea, actually, it is so convenient having a cake delivered in this way. They are tasty, fresh and filling and have now given me a great idea for spontaneous gifts to friends, or those who are celebrating a special occasion. In future, I think that one way of sending them a birthday treat will be to order them a cake to enjoy and have it delivered. Of course, there are also those special people that I still will drop round to see with a bunch of flowers as well.
