Upon unpacking the Sportsman lantern, I was definitely surprised at how sturdy it felt. Perfect for outdoor gatherings,you'll never have to worry about extension chords, or live fire situations when there are children around. The feeling of this light in my hand. It definitely feels like quality manufacturing. So far it has held up impeccably, even with the heavy use that it has gotten during my numerous desert outings.
Too many times, I have found myself stumbling around my camp site, falling into brush or tripping over rocks. This is usually down to the fact that I'm either carrying a small flashlight that flickers on and off or because I'm fighting with a bulky light that doesn't deliver on visibility. The Rayovac Sportsman LED has been a real pleasure to bring on my journey. It's a weighty enough, so that it doesn't blow over in the high desert winds, but is sturdy enough to withstand the abuse when I knock it over!
Other lanterns I've owned in the past were too difficult to use, or they were not quite bright enough.This light has been perfect on both ends of the spectrum. The "low" mode is great for when I'm relaxing, reading, or dressing in my tent. The tent hook at the base of the light makes it real easy to turn this into a great tent light. I don't have to fuss with clearing a space for it on the tent floor,it's out of the way.
The Brilliance of the Rayovac LED Lantern showers light around the whole area,not just one side,or a fixed point. There are no problems with blind spots,or shadows at all! Another must have option I really like is the ability to adjust power usage. The "High" mode provides me with plenty of visibility when I am out and about with my friends enjoying the backcountry.
I am very impressed with the battery life of the Sportsman lantern. Rayovac promises around seventy to 150 hours of battery life, and on this point, totally delivers. I am so impressed by the value of this lantern that I ordered a few more for emergency lights around the house.
It also has a tiny green blinking light that always stays on, so you know exactly where it is!. When pitch black,you won't have to fumble around ,and Guess where to find it . This is an ideal light for the elderly person who might need something very bright,and very simple to operate,and being durable plastic,it's no big deal if it gets knocked around a bit.
