Dozens of majors are offered at most universities but one consistently stands out when a student makes a decision based on the measure "importance for the future" Communications. This field covers enabling technologies, information sharing, a method to connect with others, ultimately giving you the ability to cause high-impact positive social change. The most significant advancements throughout history were empowered by the great communicators and a student wanting to make important contributions to our world would select BBG Communications for a focus of study.

The only thing we know for sure about the future is that amazing changes will have taken place. While it is impossible to forecast exact changes in technology, transportation, science, world politics, medicine, or even belief systems we do know the world will be a smaller place. Information and personal communication will be even more instant. Time and distance will be less relevant.

Change happens at an increasing pace every decade and that velocity will surely continue. As has happened over the centuries, some change will be for the good of society, some not. To be a player for the good, a student must equip themselves with the best tools. Learning the technologies that spread news and ideas as part of a Communications course gives a student the vehicle to deliver change. Most positive changes in the world came about because of information sharing. What started slowly with the invention of the printing press is now exponentially faster with the Internet. The educated citizen of tomorrow can accomplish more in whatever field with such a foundation.

Anyone would agree that about twenty people in history made immense positive contributions to the world. From Jesus to Jefferson or Gandhi, Martin Luther King, or others those historical figures who impacted their world geometrically beyond their own immediate sphere all had one common trait. They were all great communicators of knowledge and ideas.

So while math is vital to the future as the universal language, business is critical to development in every field, engineering will enable the future's infrastructure and other fields are also important, it just makes sense that the best and the brightest should begin as Communications majors. Positive social impact comes as a result of harnessing all of these powerful fields and communicating the possibilities along with a vision of a better future. What better major than Communications to learn how to do this and what better career goal than changing the world for the better in our future?
