subject: Last Week Of The School Term [print this page] On the last week of the school before the summer holidays, I decided to let the children choose what they would like to do. I got some funny suggestions, but my favourite was from a little girl. She said we should make little stuffed animals, that sounded fun and it would also mean that we have our show and tell work for our assembly.
To make the animal soft toys, the children followed a step by step guide:
First draw your chosen animal but n separate body parts
coloured it in and cut out the pieces
Get the matching colour felt to your animal and draw around the pieces
Once cut out, lay them out to check f all the pieces are there
Next you need to get needle and thread making sure the colours match
Sew all the pieces together but leave a little opening on the side
Using the side opening fill your animal with stuffing wool
Once satisfied with the filling, close the opening with your needle and thread
Finish your animal by adding the little details, like the eyes, tails and markings.
After a week of hard work, the children had finished their animals and were ready to write a little description to read in the assembly. On the last Friday of the school term, it was our day to show and tell and all the children were very excited to show their amazing animals to the rest of the school and their parents.
