subject: The New Seat Alhambra [print this page] November saw the arrival of the highly anticipated new SEAT Alhambra, the Spanish car manufacturers successor to the original 7 seat people carrier. The used Seat Alhambra in Somerset was and is a very good car, its practical, economical and decent to look at, the all new Alhambra has a lot to live up to.
Luc Donckerwolke and his design team in Martorell have done a great job in making then new Alhambra sporty, dynamic and engaging, demonstrating that it is possible to make a modern seven seat people carrier. They have also successfully incorporated SEATs trademark Arrow Design nose adding a sense of purposeful style. The svelte design and shape of the new Alhambra has helped it achieve a Cd figure of just 1.299, making it one of the most aerodynamic vehicles in the people carrier sector.
The Alhambra has seven individual seats which can comfortably seat seven adults; even the third row occupants get generous leg, knee and headroom. All the rear seats fold flat into the floor using SEATs new fold-flat system. The second row seats use the new slide and tilt feature which makes access to the third row seats very easy.
The Alhambra is available with a choice of three engines, one petrol and two diesels. The petrol engine is a 1.4 litre turbo; it delivers power smoothly and is quite flexible. The diesels though will be more popular due to their fuel efficiency and power, the 2.0 litre diesel comes with either 138 or 168bhp. All three of the engines are available with either a six speed manual or a six speed DSG semi automatic gearbox.
