The sunnier days seem to be upon us and the whole country has come together at the prospect of Engliand getting through the first round of the football. Now we have reached the last sixtee, we are more likely to hit the pub to support our country and watch the matches. World cup fans are being warned this summer to be diligent and savvy about securing their homes during the games. West Yorkshire Police have been concerned that since the start of the game, with people leaving the house to watch the football in local pubs and clubs, that they will be targeted by so called World Cup Burglars. The Bradford telegraph and Argus reported that in the run up to the start of the cup, a large amount of giant flat screen televisions were stolen from houses of customers living in their police region.
The police went as far as to issue a leaflet stating that "While big screen televisions, beer refrigerators and barbecue supplies may top the shopping list of most football fans, during the World Cup games we would urge them to also make their home security a top priority."
Also, with the summer weather, people are less diligent and more likely to leave windows and doors open, not only when they are out in the garden enjoying the weather, but also when they leave the house to watch the match in public.
A recent study showed that six percent of people admit that they do not have home or Contents Insurance at their properties, which is important in the case of accident.
