How to structure an SEO Campaign
How to structure an SEO Campaign

This article will go into more depth on how the average digital agency will structure a typical SEO Campaign. Obviously this structure is open to any number of variables and the type of website that the campaign is being tailored to however the format presented is typically standard for most general websites that are looking to offer a service and increase their exposure in Google UK with the sole purpose of obtaining more bookings or enquiries through their site.

The first step in any SEO campaign will be to perform a full technical audit of the site in question. This generally involves analysing and reviewing all of the main on-page and on-site factors for Search Engine Optimisation "friendliness". This audit will address whether or not the page titles across the site are unique and keyword focussed, whether or not the Meta Descriptions on the site included appropriate and relevant calls to action and whether or not there is enough content on the site and how the existing content could be best optimised to leverage more visits through natural search. This Audit typically takes upwards of a few days to a week to complete, depending on the size of the website and the extent of the project.

The next step in the majority of SEO campaigns is provision of a keyword research document. This document will outline all of the main target keywords that the campaign will be aiming to rank for over the duration of the campaign. The keyword research document should be focussed around accounting for every conceivable target variation including singular and plural and typically takes upwards of one to two days to finalise and refine. This document should always be considered as a work in progress.

The next step in most SEO Campaigns is the link building phase. This phase generally consists of link building processes including link scouting, article submissions, press release submissions and web directory submissions. This stage will be informed by the earlier work performed during the keyword research stage.
