As the majority of the UFC population now know about the art of Brazilian jiu-jitsu is a type of martial arts that utilizes with ground grappling, with very few stand-up skills. The majority of the techniques used in this art are executed on the ground. Techniques within Brazilian jiu-jitsu involves very minimal levels of strength from the fighter. Fighters who mastered the arts of Brazilian jiu-jitsu that weighs 100 pounds or less can easily throw out a submission lock on someone who is 100-300 pounds over there size.

From this position, he can easily execute one of many techniques of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and destroy his opponent even though it may seem that he has no chance for survival.

Primary position like side control and back mount are the main focus Brazilian jiu-jitsu revolves around. The mount position which is where the stylist is mounted on top of the attacker on the ground as his knees are fastened into the fighters armpits- this position makes it very easy for the stylist to execute a technique like an armbar or just brutefully punch his way through. With side control, the stylist would be laying on the opponent's chest, a nice position to execute a arm lock or a kimora. finally the back mount, usually known as the most dangerous position where the stylist is wrapped around the opponents back and is able to do lethal damage if the opponent has no experience or background with jiu-jitsu.

The levels of Brazilian jiu-jitsu start out from white belt, then to blue, purple, brown, and the highest level being the black belt. Moving through each level of jiu-jitsu takes massive amounts of dedication and practice usually in the range of 2-3 years per belt. Once a student reaches the black belt level, he/she will be able to teach other students. Mastering this art takes more than 12 years of hard dedication and practice but is extremely beneficial in the end.

Within the world of martial arts, Brazilian jiu-jitsu is seen as a very effective type of fighting. It is one of the most feared types of martial arts for ground fighting, more specifically in tournaments. Ground Grappling tournaments are very common these days, which is why many fighters tend to be a well rounded stylist. A small number of martial arts styles can even come close to compete with Brazilian jiu-jitsu on the ground, which is the key reason people are deciding to study into it.
