subject: Mens Fashion For A Cause [print this page]

Your fashion does not have to be only about self-aggrandizement and the beautification of your most wonderful narcissistic self. It can also make a statement that you are fashionable for a cause. There are many fashion items worn and trends that are taken up for the good cause. One of the most popular is to wear a ribbon on your lapel when you wear a suit.

Some of the most popular ribbon colors are red for HIV/Aids, pink for the fight again Breast Cancer, and yellow in support of the US troops. There are literally all the colors of the rainbow represented in ribbons and a cause for just about any shade of color you can think of; in fact many of the causes share the same color. A gold or silver metal lapel pin that is shaped like a ribbon can symbolize any cause you want. If you want to really be bold, there are lapel pins that say "Cancer Sucks!"

The next most popular are the wrist bands that look like a big rubber band. Some of the popular ones are orange for hunger awareness, white for cancer research, and the red, white, and blue combo for injured U.S. Veterans. Along with the wrist bands are simple beaded bracelets in the colors of the cause they represent,t that can be worn by either men or women. They can be worn on either wrist and can be worn both with casual attire and with suits.

Some new trends are popping up where men grow moustaches for a cause.

And the opposite is true where they shave their moustaches and beards for a cause. Grow your beard for MS/MD or shave it off for autism. This is not a solo statement. No one will know why you are doing it unless you tell them. You tell everyone you are going to do it to help raise money for the charity event. Like the walks for charity these grow-a-thons or shave-a-thons have become quite popular.

If you really believe in a cause you can make the somewhat permanent statement by having it put on your body as a tattoo. Just make sure it is something you won't change your mind about and if you have even the slightest doubt we suggest you tattoo on a place like your ankle or calf where you can show it only if you want too. Don't put a tattoo on your forehead unless you want to look like a Neo-Nazi even if it says "Cancer Sucks."

There are also many fashion events for a cause. Fashion shows for a charity event are fun to go to and a great way to meet people that are compassionate and fashionable. Rather than go to the opening of a new movie, or see your favorite sports team lose (again!), look up a local charity fashion event and attend that instead. Try something new if you haven't done it before. How many places can you go and talk to a beautiful woman and at the same time stare at other beautiful women as they parade up and down the fashion runway?
