Before starting the mold design, we have a work-up jobs to prepare.
There are certain elements that could help to get everything in good order before the real mould
design.
Firstly, accept the the part prints in either 2d or 3D format.
Usually, the part drawing containing following details are developed byprofession product design company:
1.Approvedreleased part drawing with specified plastic material and transprance.
2. Plasticpart specifications or technical requirements.
3. Production quantity.
4. Plastic sample.
Secondly,collect,analyse and digestoriginal data
Collect the partdesign, molding process, molding equipment, machining and special processing of materials to be used for mold design
1. Analyze plastic print and understand the process of plasticpart, dimensional accuracy and other technical requirements such as the appearance of plastic part structure, color, transparency, performance requirements,plastic parts geometry, slope, inserts, etc.
And pay attention tocheck if weld, shrinkage and other molding defects allowance and to see if there issecondery operation such as coating , plating, bonding, drilling and other post-processing. Select the highest dimensional accuracy of plastic part to analyze the size and see whether molding tolerance is lower than estimatedtolerance of molding plastic.
In addition, weneed tounderstand the plastic molding process parameters.
2.Digest processing dataand analyze the moulding process, ,machinery type, material specifications, and mold structure sated in the print is appropriate and could be realized or not.The implementation of molding plastic materials should meet the strength requirements with good liquidity, homogeneity,isotropy andthermal stability. According to the use of plastic part, molding materials should meet therequirement ofdyeing andmetal plating, decorative performance, the necessary flexibility and plastic transparance or reflective properties of the contrary, bonding or welding
Thirdly, to determine molding process
By direct pressure plastic moulding, casting or plastic injection moulding
Forthly, selection moldingmachinery
According to the type of machinery to design plastic moulds,the designer must be familiar with the performance of a variety of molding equipment, specifications, features. For example, for plastic injection machine,the designershould be aware of the following: injection volume, clamping pressure, injection pressure, mold installation dimensions, ejection device and size, nozzle and nozzle diameter spherical radius, the gate set of positioning ring size maximum thickness and minimum thickness of mold, template travel, etc., at the specified parameters.
