subject: Tension Shower Curtain Rods - Easy Implementation And Ample Design Potential [print this page]

Tension shower curtain rods are a very popular choice for curtain bars. The premise of these items is that their strength is derived from the tension that occurs as each end presses against the wall.

As such, these are an extremely simple and easy to install shower bar, and they look just as stylish is a more expensive mounted counterpart.

Generally, tension shower curtain rods come in one set design, a large securing bar in the center of the structure, with adjustable ends that have a rubberized edge to add friction to the wall. The design is simple, but extremely effective.

Among tension rod styling, there are generally three different finishes that are the most dominant in terms of strength as well as popularity for their aesthetically pleasing qualities.

Aluminum:

The first of these finishes is aluminum tension rod. The aluminum may initially seem like a material that lacks in strength when compared; however, with the tension based engineering they do more than their part in securing the curtain; just ensure you do not hang on it.

Steel:

Stainless steel is among one of the most popular finishes for modern accessories and in general throughout modern design. As such, stainless steel tension rods have begun to make their move into the mainstream market. While in fact these specific finishes will fetch a higher price, their strength and overall style definitely make the price worth it.

Plastic: Plastic is a popular material in general, and happens to be one of the more widely used materials for tension shower curtain rods as well. This option is by far the least expensive, and can be just as effective as the aluminum and stainless steel in terms of performance and shower curtain securing. However, the style of plastic is dropping in popularity due to the increase in modernized design.
