Nikon D40 DSLR and 18-55mm Lens Review

The digital camera I have and I'm reviewing is Nikon D40. It's a digital SLR camera. It uses any Nikon lens. It's really lightweight compared to other digital SLR cameras. It's so incredibly quick to use.

The lens it's bundled with, the Nikon 18-55mm, is really a terrific lens for a beginner. It's achievable to shoot anything from macro to portrait to nature pictures.

It starts from 200 ISO, which is an additional excellent feature. It has an extremely easy and effortless to use menu. Also it's pretty straightforward to customize the menu according to your needs. It's LCD screen is good. It's massive, bright and clear.

It doesn't have an integrated focus motor, which means that to do auto focus you'll want to use a lens that has built in motor. It's no dilemma considering most of the Nikon lenses have motors in them. The ones that do not have are decades old.

It's terrific for macro, action, nature, portrait photography. Really as it's achievable to use distinctive lenses, Nikon D40 is efficient for any type of photography--except sports. Professional sports photography requires high end cameras.

What I do not like about is that it does not have white balance and ISO buttons. So you might have to scroll the menus every time you have to change 1 of them. Also it does not have a screen on top like higher end models. It's drawback due to the fact you've to rely on the principal screen which wastes battery.

Its viewfinder could have been far better. It has only 3 focus points which make it challenging to auto focus. All in all, it's a spending budget SLR camera and it's undoubtedly worth it.

Virtually anybody would be satisfied with the Nikon D40, regardless of whether they're a beginner or professional.
