If you are anything like me, you find decorating your new toddler's bedroom to be very fun and exciting! You do with love and much consideration. The best part is that there is now a market for furniture for young children, so the job becomes even more enjoyable! You can grab a huge range of child friendly furniture, in a myriad of different styles and colors your toddler will just love! There are a few things to consider before buying a children's bookcase, bed or table, however.
(1) Allergies are bad news!
Many young children have serious allergies to different kinds of materials. Ensure that the timbers, plastics, metals and fabrics used in the furniture that you wish to purchase do not interfere with your child's health. Get a check up at your local doctor to see if there are any materials that your child is allergic to. Remember always that safety is the number one priority.
(2) Get a Twin Sized Bed!
Many buy their toddler a tiny baby sized bed. This is great and all, except that many young children quickly outgrow this bed, and there is a need for a newer, bigger one within a few short years! How about you cut out the middle man and grab a twin single bed, which is still very affordable, but has enough space for your child to grow into it over the years. What joy!
(3) Bookcases and Tables!
Encourage your child to read by purchasing a simple 4 shelf bookcase, or even a child's barrister bookcase. Similarly, purchase a small plastic or timber desk for them to sit at and read. Just two simple pieces of furniture could have a huge impact on your child's learning over those vital early years!
(4) Themed Bedrooms!
For the final touch, get a decorator in and think about creating a theme within your toddler's bedroom. Something like a space theme, cowboy theme or farm theme is wonderful, and will keep your child entertained and stimulated for many year to come!
