For a great family weekend away try Kiama NSW Australia

Edging the beautiful vistas of seashore is the town of Kiama. With a sleepy harbor and bobbing boats you will find a lovely and relaxing town awaiting you to explore. There is a sight that tourists have been coming to see for ages. The native aborigines gave it the name where the sea makes a noise. It is the Kiama Blowhole and it is an extraordinary sight to witness.

The incredible experience of seeing the Blowhole is in the force and pressure that shoots over two stories into the air. Watching can be tempting to try to get closer but the force can pull you into the plume which would have deadly affects. The Blowhole has a little brother in Little Blowhole that is near the larger than but not as powerful as the first.

This attraction brings a lot of people to the area but there is so much more to experience in this town of fisherman. A harbor with boats ready to take you out to the sea to catch marlin, yellow fin tuna, or snapper awaits your visit. Spend the day fishing and enjoying the wide expanse of the ocean.

The National Budderoo Park is home to a fantastic rain forest called the Minammurra Rain forest. Walk through the bounty of plants and animals making sure to pay attention to the adorable koala that are up in the trees. Wind your way to the waterfall and watch as it showers water down up on the forest.

Those that would rather watch the birds of the area in flight have the Barren Grounds which are the home to many species. The Minnamurra River offers the chance to float in a canoe, have lunch on the shore, or swim. If you feel like a challenge you can hike to the Saddleback Mountain Lookout and see the scenery spread before you.

The first enterprise in this area was a dairy factory. This delicious enterprise brought many people to the area. Then the quarry to find basalt or blue stone started and is still a viable part of their economy today.

With seven beaches to choose from everyone can find what they are looking for. There is a beach designated for the surfers and has great swells. Or maybe you just want to walk on the beach and smell the sea while making footprints in the sand.

There is a type of pelican only found here. Find a flock and watch their graceful flight over the top of the waters. A statue honoring them is in town and a great place to document your visit. The Pilots Cottage Museum has wonderful history of the town and surrounding area. Located right above the Blowhole it has a prime view of this forceful water.

Being only an hour and a half away from Sydney this is a great day trip for them. But there is so much to see and do that perhaps a longer vacation is necessary to truly experience all that Kiama has to offer.
