The Union of Europe experience fast development. In the year 2002, the number of countries has been twofold. Growth comes a rising need for new immigration policies, especially, the vigilance over recent immigration laws. European Union is made up of 27 member states in the year of 2009.

In the year 1957, Europe continued shaping the policies in immigration. Thus, the treaty of Rome tries to give a fundamental and universal immigration policy, in regards to the titled European Immigration History. Until in the year 1990s the immigration law were not satisfactory developed. In 1990s is not year of rapid growth for the Europe Union, thus, new policies has been found. The chain of treaties leads to institute several foundation immigration laws. However, in 1992 Maastricht Treaty put in EU citizenship laws, counting that:

Consequently, the citizenship of the Union supplements the national citizenship without any replacement. Typically, connections among National and Europe Citizenships can cause tension and discuss it within several time, since, Maastricht is known as a treaty of European Union were truly define this relationship. This Treaty makes possible that all citizens in any country in the Europe Union must exercise a certain rights in other countries in Europe Union.

Europe Union has an important differentiation among residency and citizenship. This residency permits the individual to work and live in any countries in Europe Union. Several, countries in Europe Union, have become a resident citizen after a period of time. Many countries, believe that other reason in obtaining citizenship in by marrying a citizen of a particular country of choice.

Owing to the array of countries and cultures which presented by the Europe Union, immigration laws that vary from country to country. Usually, citizenship can be obtained by the means of birth, marriage, and other family relations and long habitation of Europe Union. Though, laws vary from country to country, and some other countries that do not accept all forms of citizenship.
