Dalip Singh Wasan. Advocate

If we have a look on tv channels in India or have a look on news papers, we find that so many people have been identified who had been indulging in scams, scandals, muddles, taking bribes, indulging in corruption and had been taking commissions from individuals who had been having some contract from government side. We have also noted that our Courts are also taking interest and they have started giving directions to the government to take appropriate action against the individuals, firms or organizations who had been having benefits. And this introduction of Courts is a good sign because earlier the police agencies had been ignoring the crimes committed by the people in government and they were taking action only when the oppositions had been coming in power. This introduction of Courts is something new which shall bring happy results.

It is on record that here in India only poor people had been going to jails and all rich and powerful people could save themselves by one way or the other. If we conduct a survey of jails in India, we shall find that only poor are in jails and all big guns are able to save themselves one way or the other. We have noted that even police had been ignoring the people in power and no case had been registered against them. The police could register cases against them when the people in power are ousted and the opposition came in power. And we have also noted that because of some compromise between the political people, cases already initiated had been withdrawn. We have also noted that when big guns are in jails, jails had been turned into five star hotels and all facilities had been provided to these big guns. This not justice, but something other than justice.

We have noted that the present set up, if it continues, it is not democracy, but something other than democracy and therefore, we needed help. Now our Honourable Supreme Court has come to our aid and at times they are directing the government to take action against the individuals who are involved in criminal cases. It seems Courts have come forward to save the people from this loot and to see that money created by the people must be utilized for the welfare of the people. It seems, our Courts shall be asking the government to bring back all money which is in Swiss Banks to the state exchequer so that the account holders may give true accounts and get the money back. Otherwise the money so deposited shall be confiscated to the state exchequer. We shall also see the people who had been smuggling out this money to other countries and there are chances that some people shall have to return the honours or awards which they had been getting in the past establishing themselves good people.

Courts have come to help the people of India and we must have faith that this country of us shall become a golden sparrow once again.
