There are very few mind readers in this world. And I hate to sound like a pessimist, but I tend not to believe the ones that claim they can read minds. So, the way I see it, no one can read another person's mind. People need to be told things. They need to see it in writing or hear it by word-of-mouth. So, how does this relate to business? Well, people aren't going to seek out a service they don't know about. The solution to that potentially catastrophic problem: promote. Of course, you can air commercials on T.V. or the radio. You can put up signs. You can develop custom business cards. But here are a few subtle promotion strategies that are much easier than you think and just as effective.
Writing Accessories
Even with computers, iPads, BlackBerrys, and the rest of technology, people still find use for pens. Well, maybe not as often as they use to, but they aren't extinct just yet. However, brandishing your company name on a pen, is an age-old (well since pens have been around) tactic. In fact, now is a good time to take advantage of the limited use of pens. If people only have one pen lying around with your name on it, eventually they might just take interest in what it says.
Golf Balls
Not really sure when or how this relationship began, but business and golf are attached at the hip. But how do you make sure you're on the course at all times? Utilize custom logo wear for your favorite type of golf ball. When on the course, golfers are constantly looking for their ball, holding their ball, or staring it as they begin their backswing. So, in a way you're being in their face, but not quite like a commercial or something as direct.
Drinking Accessories
This doesn't have to be a beer pong tablealthough it can be. Drinking accessories can be anything from water bottles to coasters. I'm sure around the house you have at least one cup that promotes some sort of business. Well, by putting your company logo on a mug or bottle opener, your name will already be in peoples' homes.
Office Supplies
There isn't much of a better place to get people thinking about business than in their office. Well, take that opportunity to subtly bombard them with hints towards your business. There are a lot of options to choose from: lanyards, carabiners, stress relievers, mouse pads, keychains, etc. If you haven't caught on by now, the theme here is to be original. Everything can be a billboard, but it doesn't have to distract someone as they drive over a bridge. Once you think outside of the box, the options are endless.
