Blue Screen of Death!
Blue Screen of Death!

To start off, as an introduction, my office is "paper free office" so my entire worlds starts with my computer system and ends there only. Everything was smooth until I realized that issues do happen and not everything goes as planned. Now here is the horror story regarding customer service, and a unit that will just not work without blue screening.

Well, I've purchased, owned and used quite a few laptops in my time and fell in love with the specs on this model. After doing my research, I felt this was the best deal. But in long run I was wrong. The old Blue Screen of Death showed its ugly face not too long after receiving the machine. And I thought that issue can be resolved by installing the updated nVidia driver for the graphics chipset.

But after a day or two I suddenly realized an error with a different code. After speaking with Customer Service, they decided to have the machine sent back in. After receiving the unit back, it was determined that the memory on the system was at fault. And well again it blue screened. Same error again! This time they said the motherboard has to be replaced. So I sent it back again and they assured me to return that in less than 2 days. After I received the unit a couple of days later (after battling customer service), I boot up the machine and found out that the video driver had not been properly installed. What is that now? I almost felt like pulling my hair off.

This happened because they placed the wrong system board in my machine. Great, they have now downgraded my system, didn't offer to tell me and most of all, and did not compensate me for the downgrade. So I emailed them regarding the issue, and received a call the next morning. The uninstalling of the video driver and attempt to install the nVidia driver did not work because the hardware was not detected.

All I was waiting was for a senior rep. to call me back to discuss the problem I was going through. I've asked for a full refund now, but I've been told that it is not warranted. Interesting! I pay for a brand new laptop to work, it doesn't, and yet I can't get my money back.

I was so frustrated and irritated with these people that I could almost kill someone. But yes that won't help me either with my frustration neither to my system. So I started goggling with the variety of independent companies providing tech support. And I found this company "iYogi" though I never heard of them but it seemed nice to check out.

I called them up and in minutes I got assigned with a technician who heard me completely what I gone through and assured me to resolve it as soon as possible. This guy took few details from me as for their own record and started a remote session on my machine. With around following 15 steps that took me about an hour and he finally resolved my motherboard issue and I got rid of the blue screen.

I was wondering then how I wasted my days after days running after those unknowledgeable guys when I could easily contacted them on the first day and could have got ridden with my problem. As I know computers do get onto problems so now my first choice will be iYogi for every possible thing that can occur in my system.
