When driving around there are lots of distractions and things that can cause you danger. Distractions cause hundreds of accidents every year, so be aware and keep yourself safe.
Animals can be a hazard as if they are moving at the side of the road they can cause you to be distracted. Be alert around parks and fields as people may be walking their dogs. If a bird flies in front of your car try not to brake suddenly, as it will not cause considerable damage to the car but could cause an accident if someone goes into the back of you.
Cyclists often ride in the cycle lane but where there isn't one it can be difficult to see them. They should wear reflective clothing and have lights on their bikes in the dark but they don't always, so be extra careful.
Roadside memorials are sadly quite commonplace nowadays, but are very dangerous as they are an emotional distraction to a driver, and bits can come off and obstruct the road.
Pedestrians are often difficult to judge, so be extra careful. They may be listening to music or on the phone ad therefore distracted, or there may be works going on on the pavement so they are forced to step into the road. When children and teenagers are around, they may play and push each other into the road. Be aware of the hazards.
