It isn't just the activities in Lapland or even the fact that you can hold onto the thought of Santa Claus but it is the whole package that Lapland offers that you will fall in love with. Lapland's vast wilderness is like another world, in the winter the silence of the snow covered streets will enchant you and in the summer months, the open countryside and space will relax and rejuvenate you. The frozen wilderness is what you will really fall in love with as it envelopes you completely from the moment you arrive. I always believe and feel once you have been to Lapland; you will leave a little piece of yourself behind. The residents of Lapland live a simple life that is one filled with family time and strong cultures that bind together to provide a life which is lived to the full. The people of Lapland are at one with nature and many of their beliefs are the same as they were years ago. Nature is sacred and life is for the living. The wonderful thing about Lapland is that it not only provides fantastic skiing but has something for those who want to try something different. You can be as energetic or as slow paced as you like and in this winter wonderland it really doesn't matter which one you choose. As the years have gone by I have fell more in love with this wonderful place and every time I visit I take something from home to leave for my next visit. We all go on holiday to escape, whether that be somewhere hot where you can spend all your time on the beach or somewhere cold where you can ski and do winter sports but for me Lapland is so much more and has over the years become a second home where I feel at one with myself. Lapland offers something I can't quite put my finger on. Maybe it's the drinks round the open fires late at night or maybe it's the winter walks through the snow covered lanes or maybe there's just something in Lapland's culture that strikes a chord, whatever it may be Lapland is a wonderful place that has managed to stand unique in time and hold on to what makes it very special.
