When working at height or operating hydraulic work platforms, it is essential and indeed, a legal obligation for an employer to ensure that their operators have the right skills, knowledge and qualification to undertake the role.

There are many different types of hydraulic work platforms such as truck mounted, telescopic or articulated booms and even van mounted platforms to name a few. The one thing they all have in common is the risk to users and operators- if they have not been adequately trained to work with them.

In order to comply with current Health and Safety regulations, it is an employer's responsibility to ensure that all of their operators that are going to use such equipment receive adequate training and familiarised. This is completed through IPAF training.

It is a tough world out there, more so than ever because of the current economic downturn which this country is trying to fight its way out. So if you are looking to better yourself perhaps and want to improve your skills base and working for a company operating such machinery, it could be well worth asking your employer if you could be considered for IPAF training as a development opportunity.

When looking to appoint an IPAF training provider, it is important to ensure that they are both an approved provider of such training and well respected by the governing bodies.

At Kingfisher Access, we have built up an enviable reputation for being able to provide quality, informative training which lead to many achieving nationally recognised qualifications.

It is not mandatory for all of the various courses to be conducted in the providers training rooms.

Employers that value their people and accept their duty of care responsibilities seriously can even arrange for many of the training and familiarisation certificated courses to be delivered on-site to keep travelling and accommodation costs for their people down.
