I came across a huge problem in my iTunes recently and was looking for ways to fix this problem. I was creating smart playlists of a lot of my favorite bands and noticed that I have so many duplicate songs of each of the bands in my iTunes music library. You will discover this too. If you are an avid music collector you will have this problem in your iTunes.
The reason I have this problem of duplicate songs is because I have every single album from a lot of bands that I love. Meaning I have greatest hits, compilations, bonus discs, singles all imported into my iTunes. That makes for some of my songs being in iTunes like 4 or 5 times. Now that takes up so much space. Do you really need one song in iTunes 4 or 5 times? You don't need it more than once actually!
The big problem here is that these duplicates are taking up so much of my hard drive space. I can free up that space and make room for new music, right? Think about this if each song is 5 megabytes and you have that in there 4 or 5 time extra then you have about 20 megabytes of space per set of duplicate song you can open up. That's a lot of space for new music.
You can either do the searching and finding the duplicate songs in your iTunes music library by hand which will take you hours and hours of your valuable time or use a cool powerful software program to automate it. Think about this ... would you rather sit in front of your computer clicking and finding duplicate songs which could take you a whole day or use a powerful software program that will fix it automatically in 10 minutes or so? Once you have your iTunes fixed you will free up gigabytes of space so you can add more in the future. I vote for the automated system hands down!
