Organizing our home is one important task that we need to schedule periodically. It is not only when our parents or siblings are coming for a visit over the holidays that we need to clean up. To de-clutter our homes is one opportunity to discard old stuff that we have accumulated over the years. It is also a good way to recycle items that have long been stock in the attic.
But doing this type of de-cluttering might not come as easy. We may need to use trash removal companies. And when we hire the services of a trash removal company, we might as well plan our clean-up very carefully. Here are some tips, which I hope can help you with your clean-up project.
Look for a place where you can sort out the items that you need to organize. In my case, I used the garage to sort out the items. First, I had to clear the driveway and park my car outside. Then I swept the floor and cleaned it very well. I also built a cabinet with shelves so I can easily see and organize all the items.
After I sorted out all the items, I can now clearly see what stuff I want to keep and those that I can donate to charity. It was also easy for me to decide which items I can put in the trash removal dumpster. I also realized that there are more items that I can still give away to my relatives, specially the old clothes that my son outgrew. It was easy for me to organize because I piled the items per category.
Since I planned ahead of time about this project, I already found specific spots where to keep each category. The books and other memorabilia, I placed them in a cabinet that I built myself. I put provisions for bookshelves. It was so neat; you will never think that I have dumped these items up in the attic. Then, for the items that can no longer be used, I dumped them in the trash removal dumpster.
After I completed the project, I promised myself that I will do this periodically. It was so much easier to de-clutter every so often so that I don't get overwhelmed with the stuff that I accumulate over a longer period of time.
