Promotional items should be designed to match the season or event for example, if its Christmas, colours like red, white and green should be used on the items with all the wordings of seasonal greetings. If it is in a conference, it has to match the theme of the conference, for example, pens, coffee mugs with the theme of the conference written together with the company's brand.

Don'ts

Avoid promoting useless items, luxurious or fancy items which would have cost you more because they will not be used day to day, thus loosing out on branding opportunity.

The quantity of items should be considered carefully. If it too much, it will end up wasted and if it is too little, your reputation might be at stake, people will definitely talk.
