Maintaining contact with colleagues

Though membership in alumni associations is considered to be a mere waste of time by some groups of graduates, it might be beneficial for their professional growth. Participating in activities of these organizations the members are enabled not only to communicate with their former fellow students and tutors, they might share their experience and ask for a piece of advice. No matter how pathetic it might sound, the ties between the members of the college community should not be broken after their graduation.

Due to the severe competition at the labour market, graduates might have difficulties with the starting point of their career and receiving the invaluable working experience. Their problems might seem to be not so dramatic to them after participating in debates on specialized forums and discussing the similar troubles of their peers. At the same time these are the former instructors and the college administration who could give a helping hand for solving the problem of employment and polishing up the professional skills.

Taking advantages of membership in alumni associations

1.Alumni associations are helpful for maintaining contacts with ones college friends and tutors. Their moral support might be helpful for solving various problems. Participating in activities of alumni associations, adult graduates might recollect the days of their youth and be encouraged for further professional activity.

2.The fact is that graduates of the same college, as a rule, work in the same professional sphere. They have much in common and it might be useful for them to share their experience and results of their personal observations.

3.Alumni associations might become a scheme for adopting the experience of older generations. Young specialists might become a member for receiving a piece of advice, while the older members might come to give it.
