Flamboyant Audi

Every now again, when driving through a sea of black and silver cars, we see one that sticks out like a sore thumb. And an Audi, auctioned at Elton John's white tea and tiara ball this summer, indeed has the wow factor. The car, transformed into an artwork by the artist Damien Hirst is set to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds, it is candy pinks and has been spin painted with bright colours, and is fully road legal, so be prepared to see it streaking up the streets of the country!

Designed in Hirsts own studio, the car will be auctioned, amongst other things, at the ball that Sir Elton John organises to raise money for the Elton John Aids Foundation each year.

Audi UK director Jeremy Hicks said: 'We are enormously proud to support Sir Elton John's remarkable fundraising ball for the eighth year in succession with the donation of a priceless and unrepeatable work of art for auction.'

A six foot canvas will also be auctioned at the same time, created in the same style by the artist. The Audi will not be seen on the roads until November, and the car artwork has been created ahead of the launch of the car on the mainland in Europe.

Damien Hurst is well known for his interesting take on art, often preserving living creatures in formaldehyde which brought him widespread attention in the early nineties, he recently caused controversy when he displayed a platinum cast of a human skull, encased in diamonds.

But if you are the winning bidder of his artistic take on the Audi, don't expect to find cheap Car Insurance Quotes!
