Zoos and Animal Parks in Manchester

Manchester has so much to offer that a single day in the city never seems to be enough. If you are bringing the family along with you to see the city, you will be pleased to know you have several options when it comes to seeing the animals.

The Animal World and Butterfly House at Moss Bank Way will provide you with a good place to start. This is in Greater Manchester but as you will soon find out, most of the animal attractions are outside of the main city centre itself. One of the best parts of your visit to this venue is to walk inside the butterfly house and see all the butterflies flying around you.

Moving around to the north of Manchester, just a few miles outside the centre, you will find Heaton Park. If you have travelled to Manchester by car it should only take ten or 15 minutes to drive there.

Heaton Park has an animal centre you can visit, which has cows, alpacas and pigs to see among other animals. This is more of a farm park as you can tell, so you will have the opportunity to get up close to the various animals while you are there. Watch out for Camilla and Charles, two of the ducks that are in residence!

If you want to treat the kids (and yourself) to something very different from the normal attractions, why not visit the deliciously named Cheshire Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall? This is a proper dairy farm so not only will you see some animals, you will also get a good idea of what goes on here on a daily basis.

This is a great learning experience for the kids and they'll get to see hundreds of cows here as well. It isn't just cows there are other breeds here too and they will also enjoy seeing the smaller animals in Pets Corner. Once you all get tired of walking around you will eventually find a reason to sit down and enjoy some wonderful ice cream, courtesy of all the cows' hard work!

If you want to go slightly further afield you can see a real zoo by driving for less than an hour to get to Chester Zoo. If you are staying in the Manchester area for more than a single day this could well be a good option for another day out. It is certainly a very popular zoo to visit.

If you do decide to stay for one night or more in Manchester, you will find plenty of budget hotels in Manchester to choose from. All you have to do is book in advance and then look forward to your stay in Manchester itself.
