Reston Audi drivers can expect Nokia mobile apps soon-

Audi is proving it's an auto maker on the edge the cutting edge of technology, that is. Soon Audi drivers will be able to experience a Nokia mobile app along with all the other luxuries and amenities Audi already boasts.

Reston Audi customers will appreciate that Audi is keeping up with their lifestyle. "The average person spends between one and two hours per day in their car," Nokia stated as they introduced the Terminal Mode, the technology that is being released to five major auto companies, including Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche and Volkswagen.

Since the Nokia smartphones not only hold music, but have free navigation services, customers want a simple way to connect their smartphones to their cars, Nokia explains. This new technology allows the applications from the phone to be integrated with the car speakers, control systems and display. All this would be accessible from a handset.

Chantilly new car dealership staff members are thrilled about this new advance in communication technology because it will allow Audi customers so much more versatility in their daily lives. The system should work both ways, not only allowing smartphone apps to show up on the car displays, but allowing the driver to use the smartphone to gain access to vehicle performance information.

Nokia is committed to forming partnerships with auto makers and other mobile manufacturers in order to advance its technology and make it more widely available, said Timo Ali-Vehman, head of Nokia's compatibility and industry collaboration. "Nokia is an active member of many open standardization initiatives and forums globally, and is keen to enable open collaboration and broader use of innovation for the faster adoption of new services and products for the benefit of consumers," said Ali-Vehmas.

What does this mean for Audi and other car makers who are incorporating the technology? Reston Audi dealers believe it means faster and more complete advances in communications. Another company hoping to take this communications leap with the auto industry is BlackBerry maker Research In Motion. The company made it public in April that they are buying Harman International's QNX, which is an "infotainment" and telematics system for vehicles. Samsung, Sprint and Citrix Systems announced in May that Samsung's Moment smartphone had become the first android device to pass muster with Citrix Systems Certification. This is a program that identifies third-party solutions which can be teamed with desktop capabilities to extend virtual communication, networking and mobile computing.

Customers of a Chantilly new car dealership will be pleased with these advances in technology. As the companies stated, "By combining the strengths of Sprint and Samsung with Citrix, businesses can gain the ability to utilize mobile computing not only from a handheld device or PC/laptop/netbook perspective, but to extend the capability to the true road warrior environment."
