Nowadays, electronic devices preferably television sets are more energy efficient. This is due to its liquid crystals. This is not liquid in form as the term suggests but they are really group of solid crystals that display the properties of liquids especially when grouped together in big numbers. Take the case of a grain of sand. This is solid but when you placed a large amount of it in a bucket, it can flow and be poured like water. In LCD TV, the liquid crystals have the ability to polarize or filter out light. The liquid crystals inside the LCD can filter out different amounts of light for the purpose of producing the difference pictures and hues on the TV screen.
These liquid crystals are normally housed between two sheets of material which can conduct electricity. LCD TV has liquid crystals twisted in shape which affects the amount of light that is filtered by the electromagnetic current applied over one of the plates holding in the liquid crystal. Besides, the plates have small grooves which can influence the polarization of light. The amount of polarization will change depending on the amount of twisting which takes place.
Moreover, it has pixels where light can shine through the millions of tiny holes in the LCD screen. Each of these pixels is divided into three smaller pixels which are in green, red and blue colors. These are known as subpixels. The different pixels will turn on when light passes through each of the pixel. Then it can create illusions of millions of colors once the green, red and blue pixels blend each other at different intensities.
