Digital Marketing Resources

There are so many resources beyond Facebook, Twitter and YouTube that businesses can take advantage of for their social media plans. As I have learned in the New Media Driver's License Course at Michigan State University, the key is to research and plan extensively, to be sure that marketing hours and dollars are being spent on the most effective choices for your business.

A platform that I find especially useful is MailChimp. It is an e-mail marketing service that allows users to generate HTML coded e-mails and send them out to large mailing lists. Not only is it free, but it also provides analytics such as the click through and open rates for the e-mail blast.

Google AdWords is also a fantastic way to reach out to potential customers. Although there is a fee attached to this option, AdWords allows you to select and bid on specific keywords that will guide targeted customers to your page while they are searching for your type of services. This type of targeted advertising can also be executed on Facebook and Pandora Radio.

Prezi is a free online program that allows users to create interesting and eye catching presentations. Unlike Microsoft Power Point's standard click and shuffle slides, Prezi provides a twisting, turning, fun and engaging presentation that keeps viewers engaged in the information.

The awesome thing about social media is that these resources are being added to and expanded upon everyday. This is a constantly changing field which makes it exciting, but also requires social media specialists to stay on their toes in keeping up with new platforms.
