Let me tell you a true horror story (names have been changed for privacy's sake):

Bill and Judy had purchased Medicare Supplement insurance, assuming that, as their agent promised, it would pick up all the pieces left from Medicare so they would not have to worry about any out-of-pocket expenses. When Judy became very sick and spent two months in the hospital, they were not worried.

Unfortunately, the road of life takes difficult turns sometimes, and Judy's sickness progressed until she passed away. About two weeks after the funeral, Bill got the first bill from the hospital. The next week he got another bill, for over $10,000.

Bill called his agent, but the agent never returned the call. Bill called the insurance company, and they said they could not pay because Medicare had not approved the charges. Bill called Medicare and after waiting thirty minutes, they said they had never received anything either. Finally he called the hospital, who said that Medicare denied the claim.

Bill, still grieving, thought maybe time would take care of things. After two months, however, he received a notice from a collection agency that said he must pay and pay now. Overwrought with stress, Bill suffered a mild heart attack and had to go into the hospital.

From his hospital bed, wondering whether his own stay would be covered, he began making phone call after phone call, and after a week's time, finally tracked down the source of the problem: The hospital had made a typo on Judy's Medicare number. Just one digit was off.

Now the most shameful part of this story is that the insurance agent never, ever called Bill back. And his negligence made a tough life situation even tougher.

I am paid to be your insurance agent, and I take that pay very seriously. A situation like Bill and Judy should never happen, but in all too many cases, it does.

I'm not going to leave you high and dry. You can trust yourMedicare Supplement insuranceto me, because I answer my phone, return your calls, and go to bat for my customers.

Some issues you may face that require you to have a professional agent:

1) Some hospitals bill differently than others, and rather than take a straight payment from the insurance company, require you to pay them directly. I can make sure you get reimbursed by your Medicare Supplement.

2) Sometimes Medicare denies a claim. I can make sure it is either coded correctly, or I can send you a Medicare claim form, which you can submit along with a letter from your doctor. Medicare often changes their mind and pays the bill.

3) Labs are notorious for billing your Supplement as primary and Medicare as secondary. This is incorrect and I can tell be looking at your bill if this was the case.

4) If you have chosen a supplement other than "Plan F," there may be some extras you have to pay once-in-a-blue-moon. I can let you know whether the bill is because your plan doesn't cover it or because somebody messed something up.

5) The insurance business is very mobile, and many licensed agents hop companies frequently. On the flip side, Senior Insurance Specialists adheres to the highest standards in selecting our agents, and we have been in business over 22 years. In other words, we're not selling snake oil out of the back of our trunk. I live here in Joplin, Missouri. And I have a reputation to keep.

There are numerous other issues you may face, but suffice it to say, you owe it to yourself to take aKansas Medicare Supplement with not just the best company, but the best agent.
