EnOcean Alliance Technology May Hold the Answers to the Future of Building "Green" Buildings

First came wires, then came wireless. Now, thanks to the combined effort of the EnOcean Alliance's member companies, we are on the brink of seeing a new technology emerge which has the potential to drastically change the way we power our electronic devices.

EnOcean Alliance technology is said to not only enhance overall energy efficiency; but also reduce the need for batteries as a power supply. EnOcean Alliance solutions harness the energy that is created from slight changes in motion, pressure, light, temperature and vibration. In essence, they are harnessing the energy from sources all around us that are already emitting natural forms of energy. They are able to do this through advanced sensory as well as EnOcean's patented energy harvesting and radio-frequency technologies.

EnOcean Alliance has designed sensors that can work together and monitor a variety of different things in a buildings habitat. They will be set up at Booth 2027, and the companies involved are said to be: EnOcean Inc., Echoflex Solutions, Verve Living Systems, BSC-Magnum, Illumara, Leviton and Dimonoff.

The essential idea behind the EnOcean Alliance technology is built around EnOcean's patented energy harvesting and radio-frequency technology; of which effectively allows for the self-powered, or battery-less, wireless operation of devices; through the flexible positioning of maintenance-free sensors.

EnOcean enabled wireless networks have already been installed in over 100,000 building, which makes them the leader in the application of wireless building automation standards worldwide. Without having to worry about the placement of additional wires when building homes, offices or even skyscrapers; there would be more room for customizability in the design as well as a seriously reduced risk of electrical fires.

Buildings use close to 40% of our total energy requirements. With sensors strategically installed all around any given building, energy efficiency and overall consumption could potentially be dramatically reduced.
