subject: General Health - Healthy Habits Build A Healthy Future [print this page]

Your general health depends on how your body is functioning. All of the components that make up who you are need to be functioning properly. This includes organs, emotions, and mental process. Being healthy means not getting sick, as well. Preventing diseases is as essential as keeping your weight down and gaining strength. Common sense says that to be healthy, you need to consistently follow a nutritious diet, drink lots of water, and exercise regularly. All of these are truly the way to maintain or restore health. However, there are a few more things you can do to promote great health.

Eating certified organic whole foods, as close to the way they are in nature as possible, is one step toward reducing the amounts of disease-causing, health-zapping toxins in your body. Fresh fruits and vegetables with lean meats that are hormone-free and antibiotic-free are a great basis for your eating lifestyle. Lots of purified water is also a must. Tap water can contain dangerous drugs, toxins, and minerals that can defeat your efforts. Consuming large amounts of filtered water can help your body flush out toxins and heal itself.

Exercising leads to sweating, and sweating also releases toxins. Exercise also strengthens the heart and other muscles and increases endorphins. Endorphins lift your spirits, improving emotional and mental health. Movements that cross the body also create and strengthen synapses in the brain which connect the left hemisphere to the right and allow for more mental quickness. Clearly, eating right and exercising promote general health, but good hygiene practices can too. Washing hands often and being aware of what surfaces you are touching which may contain dangerous bacteria or viruses can help you to avoid getting sick. Keeping a clean, fairly germ-free house can also help. Indoor air purifiers can help you put clean oxygen into your lungs, allowing them to work more effectively.

Often, even if you do these things, the substance levels in your body can be out of balance. Supplements of vitamins and minerals can help you regain a healthful balance. In fact, some natural minerals actually destroy pathogens in the body, like bad bacteria, viruses, and fungi, while remaining at a zero toxicity level to the person. Working all of these areas can provide you with a fantastic basis for general health and wellness. There are many things that are beyond our control. Personal health and well-being is an area we can reclaim and chart a new course for our future quality of life.
