subject: Nfl Tickets - Week 8 Fantasy Pickups [print this page] Here are some players that might be worth adding to your roster if they're available in your fantasy football league.
Alex Smith, Quarterback, San Francisco 49ers: Smith has a second chance to make good on the talent that once made him the number one overall pick. He won the starting job in San Fran after a dazzling three-touchdown performance in the second half after taking over for Shaun Hill against the Texans. He's got the talent and he's finally healthy. He hooked up with Vernon Davis often in Week 7 and he'll probably continue to do so. With Davis, Michael Crabtree and a good pass-catching Frank Gore, Smith has the targets to be a good fantasy player.
Vince Young, Quarterback, Tennessee Titans: Vince Young will also get a chance to make good on being selected high in the draft. He was benched last season and had a bit of an emotional rollercoaster ride, but he's getting a shot. The Titans have not been great on offense, but Young is a dynamic player when he's on the field. He can get you points from rushing yards, which can add up quickly. Young definitely has the playmaking ability to sell NFL tickets and give you some value in fantasy.
Matthew Stafford, Quarterback, Detroit Lions: Stafford may be back in Week 8, but if not then almost certainly in Week 9. He'll probably serve as a solid backup quarterback the rest of the way, as he appeared to be figuring some things out before he got hurt, and he could be better than that with a healthy Calvin Johnson. He's especially valuable in keeper leagues.
Jamal Charles, Running Back, Kansas City Chiefs: Larry Johnson is suspended through Week 9 and Charles has an opportunity to take over the starting job. LJ has not been good this season and Charles has elite speed. He's also got good hands, so owners in PRR leagues should definitely take a look.
Shonn Greene, Running Back, New York Jets: Greene will get a significant amount of touches now that Leon Washington is out for the season. Even more encouraging is what Greene did with his first real set of touches in a game last week, going for 144 yards and two scores on 19 carries. He could be the pickup of the week.
Justin Forsett, Running Back, Seattle Seahawks: Julius Jones has not done much to gain the confidence of Jim Mora as of late, and Forsett has done some impressive things with the limited touches he's received. He's a good receiver out of the backfield and could be in line for more carries as the season moves forward. He's worth a flyer, especially in keeper leagues.
Bryant Johnson, Wide Receiver, Detroit Lions: If Stafford returns, Johnson could be his go-to target if Calvin Johnson remains on the sidelines. He's got talent and he could put up decent numbers until Calvin returns.
James Jones, Wide Receiver, Green Bay Packers: Jones appears to be getting more looks with Jordy Nelson sidelined.
Eddie Royal, Wide Receiver, Denver Broncos: Royal has to get more involved in the offense. Look at what he can do on special teams.
