The Mahindra Reva is now in testing procedures for the lithium-ion battery EV (electric vehicle) Reva NXR at IT City, Banaglore. The car is said to have been spotted at different locations in the city. The car will be a three-door four-seater electric vehicle that has a top speed of 104 kmph and covers a 160 km distance with just one charging. The car can also cover a distance of 320 kilometers per day with consumption of 90 minutes fast charge and it can cover a distance of 40 kilometers with fast charge of 15 minutes. The expected price of REVA NXR would play around Rs 10 lakhs. The REVA NXR is expected to come up with a couple of advanced features such as key less operation, digital display, dual charge port and text message alerts. The REVE electric is one of the leading electric car manufacturers in India that was acquired by the Mahindra Group. The company has been selling cars since 2001. with a joint venture with two foreign companies- Detroit's General Motors and Silicon Valley VC Fund Draper Fisher Jurvetson- Reva was formed. In addition, REVA recently collaborated with General Motors in the manufacturing of Chevrolet Spark electric vehicle. It was considered a remarkable achievement because this is the first time that an Indian manufacturing company is able to tie up with a US-based manufacturing company. The company has also sold most of the electric cars in India which is also expected to get a different name and logo which is a result of the merger with Mahindra. The company is set to continue to sell this car using its present name unless both the Reva and Mahindra are able to come up with a logo and name for Reva. It is expected that by 2012 Mahindra and Reva will aim to expand to fifty countries. The Managing Director of Reva, Mr. Chetan Maini also said that they are targetting to expand the company to some forty to fifty countries. There is also a 30,000 capacity assembly plant in Bangalore that has reached its completion recently. It is the world's largest operational example of a plant that is especially dedicated to the assembly of battery electric vehicles at present.
