GenVec IncGenVec Inc. (Nasdaq: GNVC) announced Wednesday it would partner with Merial, set up his own hand and foot vaccine against FMD.

Our relationship with Merial complements our strategy to enter into partnerships to support the development of our product portfolio, said Dr. Paul Fischer, GenVecs president and CEO in a statement.

Merial will assume full responsibility for the fees that come in the development and commercialization of the vaccine. Under the agreement, GenVec will receive royalties on sales and development stages.

Merial sees great potential for technology GenVec a positive impact on how animal vaccines are produced and developed, Robert Nordgren, Head of the Biotechnology Research and Development at Merial, said in a statement.

GenVec shares rose 9 percent to 60 cents on Wednesday morning.

BJs Wholesale Club Inc. (NYSE: BJ) shares rose Thursday morning as investors learned more speculation about a possible takeover.

Starting in July, after Leonard Green & Partners bought a 9.5 per cent in the company, many investors believed and hoped that the purchases in the near future. Leonard Green & Partners recently bought Jo-Ann Stores for $ 1.6 million.

According to a source close to the situation, Leonard Green may decide to go hostile if the company did not put up for auction.

BJ shares rose $ 2.69, or 6.1 percent, to $ 47.16 in early trading on the market.

European shares reversed gains and turned negative in thin trade on Thursday morning light, a number of heavy foods and beverages are the stocks of larger issuers.

At 0830 GMT, the FTSEurofirst index FTEU3 300th top European shares down 0.2 percent at 1,140.53 points, were as high as 1,144.97 earlier.

Unilever (UNc.AS) and Diageo (DGE.L) were among the fallers, both down 0.9 percent.
