subject: Having Problems - How To Deal With Relationship Problems [print this page] Do you ever just have one of those days? The kind of day in which it seems nothing is going right? Well, a few minutes ago I was playing around with some new ideas for my website and accidentally deleted the entire thing. Yeah, that's right, I deleted the entire website! All my hard work down the drain in a matter of seconds, talk about frustrating! When this happened I literally wanted to throw my laptop in the garbage and give up. How do you handle things when they get tough? First of all you should stop and take a chance to breathe. Second you should take an account of just how bad things really are. Third you should begin taking small steps in the direction of rectifying the situation.
When things go bad like they did with my website I wanted to just throw in the towel. I was really not ready to deal with the problem at this stage. I felt all my options were lost because I was emotionally tied to the problem. When you are in this state it is impossible to clearly figure out the solution. Sitting down to relax is the best thing you can do at this point. Try breathing exercises or try to focus on something positive. You really need to give your brain a chance to relax from the trama you have just put it through.
After 15 minutes, an hour, or a few days depending on how serious the blow was, you can now start to take an account of just how bad the damage is. At this point you have grown to accept the problem and you can begin working on a solution. Before you get to the solution though you must be able to categorize all the problems that the incident has caused you.
Once you have assessed the damage you can begin the healing process. Take things in little bites and write it out on a list so that you can get the pleasure of checking each one off. When you check things off a list you will find there is something special about it that makes you feel better. When you are near the end of this cycle it is a great time to come up with strategies that will help you if you ever run into this issue again. For me, I have made it part of my life to always make a copy of things now before I delete them off FTP.
Luckily for me I had a back up of the most important things in my website. Once I sat back and relaxed my mind was able to rebound from the emotional turmoil. I was then able to logically think about what was wrong. Now I am in the process of putting it all back together and creating safeguards to make sure it never happens again. When you go through something bad its ok if you can learn something from it. Bad things that come our way can actually be good because they teach us to avoid worse things in the future.
