Mistakes can be forgiven and forgotten, but what about betrayal? I think it can be forgiven but not forgotten. Why do you think that is? It is because of the key difference between the two. The former is not done intentionally (otherwise it would be called sabotage) and the latter is. Its because of this it cannot be forgotten. And worst thing of all, you dont get a second chance. Ask Judas if you doubt that.
Today I came across an incident in my team, wherein one of my mastermind allies betrayed the team by leaking out information that was not supposed to. The person knew that it is confidential and can destabilize the team, but chose to do it anyway hoping that it would not be revealed. But unfortunately, it did.
The result? The person got booted out of the mastermind alliance. What would have I done if I were at the receiving end of this fiasco? I would have resigned and moved to somewhere else where I could start all over again. It would be much more easier to climb back up the ladder if it were leaning against a different wall.
So what do you take home from this? The fact that Trust cannot be put on the line. Trust is the mantra for proper functioning of a team or organization. If you are part of a team, whether at the leading or trailing end, ensure that you do not do anything that can cause teammates to lose trust in you. There is no exception to that.
