How To Keep Yourself Motivated

Knowing what motivates you in the first place can often be a key to making sure that that initial surge or effort stays running. People are motivated to do different things at different times in their lives.

Often a motivation can be triggered by a negative image, such as a need to lose weight, or by a positive image, such as learning how to meditate.

Part of staying motivated is to get rid of the idea that there are positive and negative images or reasons for doing things. Both are really a fallacy and any motivation based on so called positive or negative motivation is bound to fail.

The reason is simple - that both are a form of judgment, and the by-product of any form of self judgment is a worsening of any self image, which is bound in the long term to outweigh any short term benefit from starting to do some thing for yourself.

There are two key factors in really keeping yourself motivated. Firstly is to be really sure that whatever you want to do, you're doing it because you want to, even if other people are involved, the emotional decision to do anything has got to come from within.

Ask yourself what brings you alive as a person and what deadens you internally. Let that be your guide as far as possible in determining what decision you make in the first place.

And then find out what motivates you.that may not be as easy as it sounds for a very simple reason - that often people feel they should be motivate by some thing, when actually they're motivated by some thing completely different.

That's fine - whatever works, works and you don't have to tell anyone! A useful tip is to realize that you have to keep yourself motivated for as long as it takes - that may mean daily, weekly or monthly refreshers, find out what you need to do and trust yourself. Good luck
