4. GWAR
Did we save the best for last, or the worst for last? It depends on your taste in metal, and for that matter, your intestinal fortitude. When you see GWAR's aesthetic and hear the first 30 seconds of their music, you know they set out to become the heaviest metal act around, at which they clownishly succeed, with their attire that seems plucked from Dungeons & Dragons characters and their vocals that vacillate between degraded grunts and hoarse screams. GWAR are an acquired taste, and if you have that taste, now's the time to act on it before their short tour is over.
