For clothing, you should check the local weather forecasts and pack accordingly. Even if you are headed to a warm climate do take a shower proof jacket as you can never be certain of the weather. If you think you will need things such as sun cream and insect repellent, check whether you are able to buy these easily at your chosen destination. A travellers first aid kit with plasters and antiseptic cream is also useful. Finally, don't forget your favourite book. Most horseback riding vacations allow some time out of the saddle and you can spend a few hours relaxing by the pool, or next to the roaring log fire.
