Cyber Monday and the Black Friday weekend preceding it are upon us. We are so close to awesome deals and holiday specials. The scent of anticipation and eager shoppers is in the air; I can smell it. Actually all I can smell is the freezing cold air outside traveling to my lungs, but you get my drift. If you're one of the many who plan to get their holiday shopping out of the way while taking advantage of some great deals, then here are a few last minute tips to make your holiday shopping experience as successful as possible:
Check the deals - Most major chain stores have released information on what their holiday deals will be ahead of this weekend. If you have not checked them yet, do a quick search on the internet and look over the products you're planning on buying.
Set a budget - With so many deals, it can be very easy to tell yourself "well, a few more items can't hurt." Set a budget and stick to it. You'll be thankful you did.
Use a credit card - You have a few added consumer protections when you use a credit card (especially if you're buying online for Cyber Monday) that you don't have with cash, check, money order, or a debit card. Know your credit limits and use your credit card this holiday season.
Plan your routes - If you are venturing out into the wild (so to speak), plan your routes ahead of time. With bad weather possible in many parts of the country, traffic will likely be an issue this weekend. Know if there are any less-traveled roads you can use to make your commute easier.
Enjoy Thanksgiving - If everything doesn't go according to your plan, at least you will have enjoyed a wonderful meal with your family. Yes, saving money on shopping with great deals is good. But don't lose sight of what's truly important. Enjoy your Thanksgiving holiday to its fullest and don't spend a minute on Thursday thinking about holiday shopping.
